HALEY (Democrat), Representative from Worth County; born in Alabama, May 31, 1890, and moved to Oklahoma at the age of 14. He attended the public schools in Oklahoma and Texas, and became a Missourian in 1913, at which time he entered a business college in Kansas City, Mo. After completing his course, he located in Grant City, Mo., in 1916, and has since resided there. He married Miss MARY BISHOP in 1917. For the last twenty-one years he has been continuously in the automobile business. In spite of the success and expansion of his business, he has always taken an active part in civic affairs in Grant City and Worth County, and is a member of the Masonic Lodge and Rotary Club of Grant City. He was twice elected City Counsellor of Grant City and served as Mayor of Grant City for a term of two years. He was elected to the House of Representatives of the 59th General Assembly in 1936, and was re-elected in 1938. In the 60th General Assembly, he acted as chairman of the Committee on Permanent Seat of Government, and served as a member of the following other committees: Roads and Highways; Transportation, Other Than Railroads; Employees and Clerical Force; Official Salaries and Fees; Consolidation of Counties, Boards and Bureaus.
