GANTT, Mexico (Democrat).--Born January 11, 1867, in Centralia, Mo., a son of PATRICK H. and MARTHA J. GANTT. Educated in the public schools of Martinsburg, Mo., and the University of Missouri. Admitted to the bar October 22, 1892, he engaged in the practice of law in Mexico, Mo. He served two terms as City Attorney of Mexico and two terms as Prosecuting Attorney of Audrain County. In March, 1916, Governor Major appointed him Judge of the Eleventh Circuit for the unexpired term of Judge JAMES D. BARNETT, who died March 10, 1916. He was elected for a full term in November 1916, and re-elected in November 1922. Married March 30, 1918, to Miss HELENA PETTINGILL, daughter of Judge and Mrs. N.M. PETTINGILL of Memphis, Mo., and they have two children, ERNEST S., Jr. and GRACE.
