    2. Vince, I would guess that the "r" in the record you have with his address would stand for "residence" rather than "renter", particularly in that area of Duluth. However, not knowing the source, this is only a guess. Also, his age might be a factor - if he was young, it's possible that he was renting a room in one of the fine old houses, or even employed by the owner, or a student at the college, renting a room.
