    1. [MNSTLOUI] John J. and Millie Cameron FINALLY!!!!!
    2. I am pleased to announce that I have finally found the final resting place for John and Millie Cameron. In 1892 they moved to Delano, MN. and lived there for three years until John died. He is buried in St. Peters Cemetery in an "unmarked" grave. Millie and the four kids moved to Minneapolis in 1895. Millie died in 1897 and was sent to Delano for burial. She is buried in a different Cemetery than John. A wonderful man by the name of Mr. Rieland did the research for me. He read to me over the phone the obits for both John and Millie. John was Catholic, Millie was "Very active in the Methodist Church" Some great news has also come from this discovery. Also in Delano was Millie's sister Mary and her family. Her father Mr. Alexander H. Lyons lived there too (he was 89 at the time Millie was buried). As I was driving home from work tonight I also had another "Revelation". The mystery over the youngest child Elvie, I believe goes like this... Charles M. Perkins marries Lucinda (Lucy) Lyons in 1880 in Wadena Co.(Charles wife is listed as Lucy Perkins). They have a child Elvina Perkins. Lucy dies when she is 30 years old in 1884 (the birthdates match, the rest is assumption) The John and Millie Cameron family take and adopt little Elvie. (Elvie Perkins later marries Charles Cooper on her 20th birthday Aug. 20th 1901). Charles later remarries Anna Perkins and they have sons George and Charles N. Perkins. Mr. Rieland is going to send me all this documentation (I can hardly wait!) He is also going to help me place markers at the sites of Harrison and Stephan Lyons. They were both members of the 1st Minnesota Volunteers during the Civil War. They have heroic stories. Both men are in unmarked graves. Mr. Rieland is known as a "Missionary" for this cause. He has placed HUNDREDS of markers on the gravesites of people whom he finds in unmarked graves in Minnesota. I still have several mysteries to solve. I do not yet know where John J. Cameron was born and his parents names. I would love to find out what happened to John Cameron Jr. I am hopeful that I might find descendants from him and connect with lost Cameron family. Another mystery is a woman named Ida or Ada Cameron. She was living in the John Cameron household in Duluth in 1890-1. She also paid for three cemetery plots one of which is Millie's. I am so grateful for this breakthrough. I want to thank everyone for all their help and support. I am looking forward to the next brick wall and the next and the next.... Dean Cameron

    1. [MNSTLOUI] Another Cameron Mystery (getting closer)
    2. I think that I am close to making the connection to Elvina Perkins m. Charles Cooper in Duluth 20 Aug. 1901. I have always heard of Elvie being the "Aunt" to my Grandfather. When in fact I have learned that she was an "Adopted" daughter to John and Millie. I did a search in the Wadena birth index and sure enough, there is a child "Perkins" born 20 years to the day. 20 Aug 1881. It looks as though for some reason my Cameron's took in the young Perkins girl. They left Wadena in 1888, so she would have been a small girl at the time. She did not live in the household in 1885 according to the census, so she must have become a member of the family between 1885-1888. I am hoping that someday I can learn the story as to what happend to her parents. All for now, have a great night! Dean

    1. Another "Cameron" Mystery (Cooper / Perkins)
    2. With a title like that I must be confusing everyone! I just learned that the "Sister" to my ggrandfather (whom I was calling Elvie Cameron) was really Elvina Perkins who married Charles Cooper in Duluth on 20 Aug. 1901. I do not know the details of this fascinating story. I just knew her in my paperwork as Mrs. Elvie Cooper sister to Fred Cameron. I have a theory however, There was a Perkins family that lived in Wadena Co. by my Camerons in the late 1870's through 1888. I believe that something must have happened to that family and John J. Cameron and Millie Cameron took in the child. I do not make this analogy without some family history. Fred Cameron (John's son) took in an abandoned baby in ND. They found her in a snow bank and had to put her in a warm woodstove to bring her body temp. up. They named that baby "Alice" Cameron. She was later married to a Mr. Magee. I would like to think that I come from a long line of Good Samaritans! Well, enough rambling for now. If any name are familiar let me know, Thanks, Dean Cameron

    1. 1899 Missionsförsamlingens Church Choir, Duluth
    2. Greetings St. Louis County Researchers -- Browsing for other things in my yet-to-be-organized mass of family memorabilia, I rediscovered the composite photo of the 1899 church choir that my grandfather, John Carlson, directed in Duluth. The church would be predecessor to the present-day First Covenant Church, (I think). The Covenant denomination was variously known as Svenska Missionsforbundet and the Swedish Mission Covenant. The congregation in Duluth, for a while, was affiliated with the Congregational denomination before switching to the developing Swedish Covenant (according to my father's recollection and an old church directory also somewhere in the family trove). I have made a JPG file of the whole array, as well as a JPG file for each of the individual, labeled photos used to make up the composite. Since the original photos used were quite small, resolution is only fair on the scanned photos, but each person's features are recognizable. Following is a text-only list of the names of the folks included in the composite. If you wish to get a copy of the full photo or of any of the individual photos, let me know. 1. Millie Cameron the saga continues...........
    2. Well, here we go again, I just received new from the Cemetery in Duelm that Millie and John are not there. This just wouldn't be fun if this were the end of the story! We are checking some of the surrounding Cemeteries such as the one at St. Patrick's. I have come to the conclusion however, that after CAREFULLY studying the good Doctors bad handwriting on her death cert. that it could be Delno (Delano). He has one other word on the cert where his "O" is a very thin double line. It made it look like Delm. So....If there is someone who can help me find phone numbers and Cemeteries in Delano (I found three Catholic one's, Is that all of them?). Thanks to the researcher who suggested Delano to me a couple of days ago. Just a comical footnote: He spelled Disease "Disece" on the same cert. So much for medical school... Thanks, Dean
