    1. [MNSTLOUI] Kind of a War ration question
    2. Kim
    3. I recently remembered something that my father taught me to do when say a bottle of Ketchup, or can of Tomatos was empty. He told me to add a little water in the bottle/can to rinse the inside out and then pour it into the food I was making. That way you wouldn't waste any of it. Now, I'm a youn' in of (30 something), but I didn't know if this was something taught during the war years or something he learned from someone else because he was always on a budget. Does that sound familar to anyone? Kim Pollard

They were no help what so ever. What I ended up doing was look at streets on the film, and from there deduce where I wanted to be. I think they ED numbers increased as you go from East to West along the Lake and then from South to North. The ED for East 5th Street and First Avenue East is 165. I would almost assume that your ED would be 162 - 164 based on what I have seen. I hope this helps. -- Louis J Bouchard Rochester Minnesota USA louisjbouchard@home.com --------------------------- "Mine is to plan an artistic revenge on an enemy, carry it out to completion, and go to bed peacefully" Josef Stalin describing his perfect day

    3. The Lottery Winners The capital lottery prize of $15,000 recently drawn by a Duluth saw mill employee, has been divided up among five, there being that many tickets in the pool that won the prize. All the five winners are Finlanders working in Peck & Sons saw mill at Rices point and all will leave in a few weeks for Finland to spend the remainder of their days in ease and peace. They say the the in- come from the $3000 each that they have received will keep them and their fam- Iiies In luxury, with all the whale oil and meat they want to eat for the remain- der of their days. It is possible that one of the men who is a mill edger, may return in the fall as his ambitions for wealth are high. Duluth Weekly Herald, July 4, 1889

According to the Saint Louis County Death Record index, there were 2 Arthur Miller's that died in that time period in Saint Louis County. The records are below MILLER ARTHUR NA 10/4/1955 1007 MILLER ARTHUR ALBERT 8/22/1946 869 Although the dates do not match to what you said, I would look at these records anyways. This information is from the Saint Louis County Gen Web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnstloui/ Another place to look is the Minnesota Historical Society Death Index webpage: http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm Although they go up to 1946, don't be picky unless you are ablsolutly certain.
