The son of Mathias and Anna Gertrude (Hoffmann) Roerig. His grandparents were Mathias and Maria Elisabeth (Rausch) Roerig.he emigrated to the US in 1840's with his parents. He married Maria Magdalena Knechtges and had two girls. He lived in the Marytown, Fond du lac Wi area until his death in 1884. this family is related to the Roerig's that later settled in Brown's Valley Minn.
