I just lucked into this site last year and found the digital book "Trails Plowed Under" put online by the Univ. of Alberta. In it was the article about Reuben Metcalf written by my aunt!!! Previous to finding this site all I had known was that several in our family had homesteaded in Canada; all except Reuben returned to Burlington, WA within 1-2 years.
