Bryant Page 438 and 439 Millwood Township WILLIAM H. WEST, a native of Jersey county, Illinois, was born on the 11th of August, 1854. At the age of two years, he came with his parents to Prescott, Wisconsin, where he remained, with the exception of one year's absence, until twenty-one years of age. In 1875, he took a trip through the Southern States, and after his return, rented a farm for one year, after which he was employed by Dalrymple in opening his immense farm near Fargo. He was then employed on his father's farm for a year, and in the fall on 1877 commenced learning the miller's trade at Hudson Wisconsin. In April, 1879, he came to Melrose Flouring Mill. Mr. West was married on the 23rd of December, 1879, to Miss Emma Webb, a daughter of O.D. and Esther Webb, of Melrose.
