It is called the "Battle of Cold Spring" and is the article in this month's newletter "Crossings". She said it was Nicholas Lardy not Michael. My gggrandfather was Michael. I had never heard the story. I do not know which Nicholas it was...would need his date of birth. But judging from the date of the murder May 1876, it was probably Michael's brother since the next generation was too young. Maybe someone from that side of the family has info. You should check http://archives.stearns-museum.org/ They have several files on Thomey and you can also research other names. They have a file for Pierre Thomey Sr. 1829-1876 and it might have an obit which would have more info. It is a wonderful museum. Please let me know what you find.
