Since Danzl is such an unusual name and it seems unlikely that our families would come from same small town and not be related, I think we must be related. Any > information about him, his parents, or the wilwerding family of > Freeport MN would greatly be appreciated. Linnea, A couple good sources show lots of information on the WILWERDING family. Check the Stearns County website http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnstearn , find the township map and click on Millwood Township, then the 1900 census. On p. 13A beginning line 42 you see Anton Wilberding (b 1850 in Luxembourg), his wife Emalia (b 1859 in Ohio), and 10 children with their birth months and years. The children were all born in Minnesota. Anton emigrated in 1882. I checked the 1910 census and found Johannes, age 7 [so b ca 1902] with the same family. Also the head of the house was Antons mother Anna, 85, b ca 1824, widow, from Luxembourg. Probably Gretchen Lieson, a membeer of this list who is collecting information on Luxembourg families especially in Stearns county, has more information on this family. The other major source is the Stearns History Museum (see the website http://www.stearns-museum.org/index2.html ). Click on the resources available in the museum, and put Wilwerding in the subject line. You will see a fairly substantial file on the Wilwerdings. The catalogue gives such information as the name of the patriarch of the family who died earlier-- Heinrich, 1831-1899. It mentions the family was earlier at Lewiston, MN, before ending up near Freeport. Magdalene, one of Anton and Amelias children, born 1893 died in 1899. Amelias full name was Amelia Johanna Roden, 1859-1945. You may find most interesting a cassette tape (45 min.) of a John Wilwerding interview. Check with the museum to see how you can get access to this material. I hope this is helpful to you. Ken Neumann
