His wife was Anna Maria KREMGES. Nicholas died in Germany and his wife died in Luxemburg, MN, in Stearns County. Nicholas had a brother, John, that we know of. We believe that he died in Germany. (not sure) Nicholas had five children that emigrated to America (there may have been others left in Germany). They would be Peter (1832-1916), John (1833-1919), Eva (abt 1835-1863), Anna (LOESCH) 1839-1916, Catherine (HANSON) 1843-1918, and Mary (MAJERUS)1846-1921. Antonette Schurmann (b. 18 Apr 1835 / d. 25 Feb 1916) was married to Ferdinand Borgmann. The couple moved to the Lake George area in 1856, then to a farm just south of Sauk Centre in 1865. They had 12 children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. Ferdinand and Antonette, and several of their children, are buried at St. Paul's cemetery in Sauk Centre. Catherine Schurmann (b. 12 Nov 1837 / d. 15 Nov 1915) was married to Conrad G. Herberger. They lived in St. Cloud in the 1850s, but both are buried in St. Paul's cemetery in Sauk Centre, not far from the Borgmanns. Mary Schurmann (b. 13 Dec 1839 / d. 27 Jun 1921) was married to John Felling. They also settled near Lake George about 1856, but both died in Belgrade. Freiderich Schurmann (b. 19 Mar 1845 / d. 10 Apr 1926) never married. He is also buried at St. Paul's cemetery in Sauk Centre. All of the above are the children of Nicholas and Louise (Becker) Schurmann. The Schurmann family emigrated from Reclinhausen, Prussia, in about 1853 and settled near Guttenburg, Iowa, in Volga Twp, Clayton County, Iowa.

Their daughter, Regina, died in 1992, and according to our family, she received a check for a couple of dollars from that will. When the family moved to Wyoming, she was employed at Western Ranchman Outfitters, which was run by an Jewish family. Because of her German, she was able to understand what they were saying in Yiddish.

Judge James McKelvey was the father to my great aunt's husband James E. McKelvey. James was her first husband and I know that they were in St Cloud in 1900 and gone by 1905. They had a daughter in 1894 and another child who died before 1900, probably stillborn or die as a baby. I would like any information on James E. -He was a Captain in the Military. They divorced by 1905 and I do not find him later. He was in the 13th Volunteer Infantry 1989-99. The other families are related to McKelvey's.
