Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TJB.2ACI/1675.1 Message Board Post: St. Joseph's Home for the Aged was in Sherburne Co. Here is a quote from Mitchell's 1915 "History of Stearns County": "In the spring of 1890 a new hospital, St. Raphael's, was built a short distance from the state reformatory on the east bank of the Mississippi, on a piece of ground donated by Messrs. Coates and Freeman of St. Cloud. The former hospital was turned into St. Clotilde's musical academy and kindergarten. The great distance of the new hospital from the city was a serious drawback, and ten years later a new St. Raphael's Hospital was opened in the city. In 1905 it was damaged by a fire, but the damage was speedily repaired. The old hospital on the east side was then turned into St. Joseph's Home for the Aged; it is still conducted by the sisters."
