Grandmother was Bertha Mache/Malkie/Macky/Mockey or the best guess. She was born Dec. 4, 1870. I can place her in Buffalo NY Oct 15, 1891 when she married John Fox born May 17, 1869. We do not even have middle names on either of them. They lived in Buffalo all their lives but am at a dead end doing research. Five boys were born to their union: John Charles, Frederick Augustus, Edward George, Dewey and Almon Kenneth. Remember someone saying that Bertha was of German decent.

According to the records we recieved from his home town in Bettingen, Germany going back to 1690 I do not see a George. There may have been a George born in the U.S. by another relative not listed in our records. We lost the trail in Illinois where there seem to be a lot of Fandels possibly Nicholas's brothers. Hugo, Mathias, Johann, Michael, Jakob?

Send it to my personal address. Bye for now, Jan P.S. If anyone else is interested in a copy of the application send me your snail-mail address too. I love to share.

Would you happen to know the names of sibling (if any) on your Paul Heinen? I have an Adam Heinen (b.abt.1802 d.December 29, 1868 IA) who was married to Catherina (b.September 10, 1802 d. July 17, 1876 IA). They came to America probably some time between 1860 and 1865, and settled in Gilbertville, Black Hawk Co., IA. They had at least 5 children: Barbara (b. 1828 Prussia d. 1905 Black Hawk Co., IA) m. to William Schares in Prussia; Henry (b.1835, obit says in "Roehl, Prussia" d. 1912 IA Falls, IA)m.to Anna Brock; Valentine (b.1839 d.1905 Gilbertville) m.to Anna Mae Marks; Mary A. (1845-1869); and Angeline (b.1847, obit says in "Raehl, Germany" d. 1921 IA) m. to Jacob Pint. Jacob's brother, Matthew, and possibly other relatives ended up in Stearns Co., MN, so am grasping at straws,in the hopes that some of the Heinen clan also went there. (Have seen that there are quite a few Heinen's in MN, just not sure of any connection)
