I have the obiturary for his father, Michael Nierenhausen. It states the following. Michael Nierenhausen for many years a residen of Roscoe, died suddenly at his home in St. Paul Wednesday evening, Dec 12th (year unknown), was buried at Richmond on Monday after a Requiem High Mass at 9:30 am. Michael Nierenhausen was born on a farm near Richmond on Feb. 26, 1875, the son of the deceased Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nierenhausen. In 1898, he married Rose Ahmann and in three years the couple would have celebrated their golden anniversary. After living in Richmond several years, they moved to Roscoe where Mr. Nierenhausen bought grain for over 20 years. He later operated a soft drink parlor. He then moved with his family to St.Paul where worked up to the day of his death. Surviving, besides his wife, are the following children: Alphonse, Roman, and Mrs Donald (Adeline) Taylor of Minneapolis; Leander and Frank of St. Paul; Mrs. Stanley Woytanowitz, Tacoma, WA; Ralph, Salina, Kansas; Clarence, Los Angeles, CA; and Nicholas of Paynesville. Beside these there are six living sisters and brothers: Mrs. Elizabeth Sauer, Detroit Lakes; Mrs. Margaret Backes, Greenwald; Mrs. Susan Smith, Whittle, Alberta, Canada; John Nierenhausen, Minneapolis, Frank, Cold Spring; and Anton of Richmond. Five sisters and brothers preceded him in death. This all the information I have on my mom side of the family. If you would kindly supply me with any information it would be very gratifying for my mother, LuAnn Liedman - Nierenhausen. My grandfather Nick Nierenhausen was married to Lucille Hartman. There children are: Germain (Judd) Nierenhausen, John (Jack) Nierenhausen, Daniel Nierenhausen, Darrell Nierenhausen, LuAnn Nierenhausen, who was born with a twin sister, I think her name was Susan, who past a way at three months from a heart defect. Let me know what other information you may need on more recent relations. Gail Liedman - Reini

    3. Browsing the archive, saw your query of tracking Luxemburger's in Stearns Co., MN. My g-grandfather is Joseph HUMMER, born in Aix sur Cloie, Province of Luxemburg on 7 Sept., 1811. After 2nd marriage of Joseph to Crescentia HUMMER nee KUNKLER in 1859 at St. Michael Parish, Fort Loramie, Shelby Co. OH. & birth of their first child, Andrew in 1861, the HUMMER's relocated to St. Cloud, MN., & Parish of St. Wendelin of Luxemburg, (date & reason & length of residence there - unknown) . Crescentia KUNKLER, is born Glottertal, Baden Prov. in 1828. In St. Cloud, MN., a son, John (Chrysostom) was born/Baptised in Mar., 1866, & my grandmother, Margaret in Dec., 1867. Need the birth/Baptism date of Mary HUMMER, listed as 6 yrs. in 1870 Census yet. Have long puzzled over the surnames in 1865 Stearns Co. Agricultural Census & 1870 Fed. Census as to HEMMEL -LOMMEL - HOMMER entries, as to their being family. Joseph & Crescentia HUMMER relocated back to St. John the Baptist Parish, Maria Stein, Mercer Co., OH. sometime in the 1870's & are deceased there, Joseph in 1891 & Crescentia in 1900. Looking for the death date & location of an older brother, Dominic HUMMER, who died in the 1860's, & may have came to St. Cloud with Joseph, having been widowed twice in the 1850's, Shelby Co., OH. Do you have any further?? Regards, Vincent P. KUNK Palm Desert, Ca. <[email protected]>

George MICHELS debarked at the Port of Baltimore. According to the ship register, he arrived alone--not accompnaied by a wife or children. He may have married in Baltimore, as I have been in contact with other researchers of the THELEN line there. It seems that this line then moved to Michigan and from Michigan to Wisconsin. On checking naturalization records for George Michels I found a record but the one I found was for George Michels born in the year 1795. He was 45 at the time of his arrival in the Port of Baltimore on August 16, 1840... George MICHELS married Anna Marie THELEN...but I don't know where this marriage took place. I am researching a LENGER/LINGER line. This line descends from a MICHELS-THELEN line which settled in SE Wisconsin. Some of the LINGER/LENGER/MICHELS line moved up the Stearns County, Minnesota area about 1865...Christian LENER (Sr.) had a daughter named Margaret LENGER who married a DEDEREICH/DETEREICH. This MICHELS/DEDEREICH line first settled in Belgium, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. Anna MICHELS (nee THELEN) is buried at St. Martin's Cemetery off Appleton Avenue near Timmerman Airfield in Milwaukee County. I would like to exchange information with you... I have checked on George Michels and found that he first purchased land in the Town of Belgium, which is about 8 miles north of Port Washington. He got the land through a land patent from the United States Bureau of Land Division. He later sold the land and purchased land in the Thiensville area. In that era it was known as Milwaukee Territory. I have reason to believe that George Michels emigrated from Luxembourg since his first land purchase was in the town of Belgium. In this area the first Luxembourgers settled as early as 1844. Also there were other Michels who settled in this area in 1848...there were other Michels who settled in this area at a later date, but no other George Michels. I tried emailing the poster, but the address is no longer valid. I too am researching LONGLEY/DAVIS in Stearns Co., Minnesota. I do not have the dates/places asked for, but I might have other information worth sharing. The families of Wildman Longley, James Longley (wife Emma Delilah Davis), Freeman Eugene Davis (wife Minerva Longley), George Davis (wife Mary) and John Davis (wife Almira) all moved to Stearns Co. in 1868 from Hooksburg, Morgan Co., Ohio. Wildman Longley was the father of James and Minerva. He was born about 1810 in Loudoun Co., Virginia to George Longley. I think John H Davis was the father of Emma and Freeman. I know Emma and Freeman were brother/sister. They are also listed together in the household of John/Almira in 1860 Morgan Co. James and Emma were married in Morgan Co, Ohio with E C Davis performing the ceremony. I have James Longley's CW pension file. A listing of the documents is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familysoup/james_pens/index.html My family tree is posted at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~kylongley . (Stearns county relations descend from Longley, Wildman) Other Stearns County names in the pension file are Guifford Hawes, Jason Roberts M.D., Thomas J Longley, George W Davis, H E Davis, Wm T Brinkman, Frank T Rudy M.D., Milton E Merrill, Mary Winnefred Longley, E A Davis, H A Pinault M.D., James W Douglass, Thomas Van Etten (attorney), and Mrs Mary E Payne. Eventually, I'll get them all transcribed and/or scanned to the website. I'd be happy to share info with any interested parties.

I also have some information that does seem to match your Schackmann line - Johannes Jackman? & Mariae Schmit of Irrel, Rheinland - parents of Mathias Johannis Jackman who married Katharina Thines - parents of John Schackmann who married Anna Burgard, also of Catharina Schackmann who married Mathias Schreifels, also of Maria E Schackmann who married Phillip H Gross, also of Michael Schackmann, also of Margaretha Schackmann, also of Magdalena Schackmann who married Theodore Lardy. So far I haven't been able to connect these two lines. Although it's interesting how similar the naming patterns are between the two families.
