West, one of St. Cloud's pioneers, and Postmaster since 1869, is a native of Greene county, Ohio, born in 1833. He came to St. Cloud in 1855, and was engaged in the lumber business a short time, but the following spring, established a general store, which he discontinued in 1857. He then manufactured lime and brick, and was also engaged in building for several years. In 1862, he enlisted in Company I, of the Seventh Minnesota Volunteer Infantry and served three years' he was mustered in as Sargeant, but promoted to Lieutenant, and held a Captain's commission at the time of his discharge. Mr. West returned to St. Cloud and has ever since been losely identified with the progressive element of the city.

A family who has relatives buried here commented that an ancestor of theirs passed away in 1882 near Fair Haven and was buried in the Fair Haven Baptist Cemetery, according to the obituary. Does anyone know of the location of this cemetery? Or could some other cemetery been used by a Baptist congregation at that time?

Married Anna Maria Gertrude Altrogge (1850-1914) born Germany, died Saskatchewan, Canada. Children: Theodore, Gertrud, Mary, Agatha, Clement, Helena, Johanna, Anna, Theodora, Josephine Peters (all born from 1874 to 1887). Family lived in Farming Twp, Stearns County MN, Detroit Lakes, Becker County MN, St. Martin Twp, Stearns County MN are the primary areas they were in before some of the family moved north to Saskatchewan, Canada. Some of the Peters family married into the Grunding/Gruending family in Meire Grove, MN ***my line.
