I've "rescued" an old wedding photograph identified only as "The BENDLIN'S" which was taken at the Mrs. F. EARLEY Studio in Arlington, Minnesota. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with the couple appearing to be in their 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to the name, someone has also written "my second cousins" on the back of the photograph. I'd like to be able to return this photograph to family. /Emergency aid for the Sufferers--Claims from the Dakota Conflict/ is now available. This volume includes the financial requests of the terror-stricken settlers who fled their homes to seek safety, as well as reimbursement requests from those who provided shelter, food and clothing for them. Steamboat passenger lists from down river trip contrast with the claims for military supplies the steamboats transported up river. Those still needing aid in January of 1863 are listed, mostly widows and their families, trying to survive and return to normal lives. These transcriptions and extracts are from the original records in the State Archives at the Minnesota Historical Society. The two main sections outline the providers and recipients of aid at the local level of government, and the state and county government activities to help them. A lengthy index encourages the tracing of specific individuals and families as they move back to their homes, or out of the state for good. Details for ordering can be found at <http://www.parkbooks.com/Html/refugees.pdf>. Mary Bakeman Park Genealogical Books <www.parkbooks.com> blog at <parkbooks.blogspot.com>
During the Dakota War of 1862, Anton and Rosina Rost lived in Henderson. Our family story says they provided protection to a Dakota Indian family. While I've been able to corroborate some of the details, some of them are still unclear. Can you help? The story and my research to date are posted at <http://parkbooks.blogspot.com> Mary

Hi Shelley, E. Doheny is an ancestor but I do not know who the Foley and Lange people would be. If you have not been contacted as yet, I suggest that you send the picture to the Sibley County Historical Society at 700 Main St P.O.Box 407 Henderson, MN 56044 Bill Grimes Round Rock, TX -----Original Message----- From: Shelley & Tomas Cardiel [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, August 21, 2005 12:23 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [MNSIBLEY] FOLEY and LANGE Family Photograph I've "rescued" an old photograph of Lillie FOLEY and Frankie LANGE which was taken at the E. Doheny Studio in Arlington, Minnesota. The photograph was taken in February 1897 and notes that Lillie is age 4 years and her nephew Frankie age 2 years at the time the photograph was taken. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley ============================== Search the US Census Collection.
