    3. Hello veterans and newbies of the rootsweb. There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 259 prisoners on record from the state of Minnesota and more than 100 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides as well as all Americans who gave their freedoms for those that we enjoy today.. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once so as not to irritate subscribers. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Please visit my website dedicated to those Americans who were imprisoned and died in captivity while in the service to our country Kevn Frye Local Andersonville Historian / National Park Service Volunteer http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/Andersonvilleprison/index.html AOL USERS go to http://hometown.aol.com/andersonvillecw/

    3. I love this Message Board and I enjoy hearing about all the different family questions. Could you check that "book" you have for another family? I would love to have information on the life and family of Earl Richards. He was married the first time in 1917 to Hilda Olson. She died in 1921 after childbirth. In 1923, I think it was, Earl married my great Aunt Anna Jensen Winther. Earl worked for the RR....would there happen to be a family bio about them? Thanks for checking for me.........I appreciate that so much. 3. Hello, I am researching my husband's paternal grandmother, Mary McGee Price. She was born in Magnolia, Rock County, MN September 29, 1880, died in Milbank, Grant, SD and is buried in Sisseton, Roberts County, SD. She was the daughter of WILLIAM AND CATHERINE SMITH MCGEE. William and Catherine/Katie arrived in Minnesota sometime between the years 1871 when their daughter Katie was born in McClean County, IL and June, 1873 when their son William F. McGee was born in Minnesota. In the Minnesota state census of 1895, William was 57, born in Ireland, had lived in Minnesota for 22 years 9 months and in the enumeration district of Magnolia Township for 21 years and 4 months. I believe his daughter Katie married William J. Ellsworth and his son, William F. married Adele ?. Also, William's son Charles was buried in Rock County, according to his obituary taken from the Milbank newspaper. Is there an 1890 Federal Census of Union Soldiers and their widows for Minnesota? Any information on this family would certainly be appreciated. Thank you in advance, Donna Price

May I request for another search?? Do you have any information in Coon's in Rock County?? I have been told that Samuel was buried in a small cemetery near Magnolia, (or possibly just across the county line in Nobles Co). His son was Charles Wilbur Coon, (he is the one that was married to Bessie Smith). This is my great-grandfather (Samuel being my gr-gr-grandfather). Charles and Bessie had 2 daughters, Mary Ethelwyn and Dorothy Elceta. Ethelwyn (as she was known) married my grandfather Chester Clare Spease, he was a city commis. in Luverne and also a County Commis. for Rock Co. also he started and owned Spease Tire Shop, on the south(?) end of main near the bridge. Donald later took over the shop from grandpa and later moved the location to the intersection of main and the highway chaninging from Moblie Oil to Standard Oil. My father Loren William, Who worked at the shop until he went in Marine Corp, and later attended NWCC (NorthWestern Chiropratic College). I would be grateful to receive any information on the above names. I apologize for the long list, my main interest is in the Coon's. But would be grateful on bio information that might be found on my Grandfather Chester Clare Spease and Mary Ethelwyn (Coon) Spease. Thank you for this service you provide, there are so many of us that seek information on family from that past that do not have access to the history books of the counties, it is indeed a valuble service that you provide. And I am sure that I speak for others when I say Thank you for all the time that you as a volunteer provide. Sincerely, Laura
