    3. Can anyone help him? Mary List mom *********** A little background about death certificates: The information found on a death certificate can vary widely, depending on who the informant was that provided it. Sometimes informants are very good, and you'll find the parents' names; sometimes all you'll find is "unknown." (In my own family, my great-grandfather said his wife of 40+ years was born in Germany, when I found her baptism record at a week of age here in MN. Whether he ever knew, or forgot when she died, or what, I don't know. The information found on her death certificate is NOT accurate.) The reliable pieces of information are supplied by the attending physician and undertaker -- place, cause, date and time of death, and where interred. Usually the residence is OK, too. It's usually the family information (age, date of birth, birth place, etc.) that is questionable. The certificates themselves are on microfilm at the MN History Center, but you can purchase them on-line.

    3. Amen to that! My grandfather mis-spelled his mother's name "Rebacha" for "Rebecca". Who knows what else is wrong! Mary Bakeman <[email protected]> wrote: Can anyone help him?
