    3. Hi Lois: Here is what I found: 1885 Census – Dakota County, West St. Paul: Alphonse Jasmin – Age 36 Born in Canada Caroline Jasmin – Age 34 Born in Canada All the children were born in Minnesota Alphonse – age 6 Arthur – Age 4 Albert – Age 2 Leon – Age 6/12 1900 Census – Ramsey County Ward 6 Alphonse Jasmin – July 1856 Both married 22 years Malina – June 1861 – 6 children living of 7 born Albert – Nov 1882 Leon E – Dec 1884 Thomas E – May 1886 Eveline A – May 1888 Alma – Feb 1894 1905 Census – Ramsey County St. Paul Ward 4 Alphonse Jasmin – 48 - Shoemaker Malina Jasmin - 42 Albert – 22 - Clerk Leon – 20 - Lithographer Thos. – 19 - Moulder Evelyn – 17 The 1920 Census for Los Angeles California lists an Arthur Jasmin born in Minnesota, parents born in Canada. Since according to the 1900 Census Malina had 6 living children out of 7 born, I would say that Alphonse, the first born, died sometime before 1900. In the Minnesota Birth Index, Gladys Evelyn Vinson was born in Ramsey County on 6-21-1911 and her mothers maiden name was Jasmin. In the Minnesota death index Evelyn A.Vinson, born 5-17-1888, died on 3-6-1991 in Ramsey County. Her mothers maiden name is listed as Courville. I am fairly sure this is Alphonse and Malina's daughter so Malina's maiden name would have been Courville. This could be verified by obtaining copies of birth and death certificates through the Minnesota History Center. Hope this helps. (Incidentally Gladys Vinson married Clifford Oliver Mellin and had four children of her own - James, Donald, John, and Mary. Also according to the Death Index there is a Paul Albert Jasmin, born 11-9-1882 and died 11-2-1963 in Hubbard County. His mothers married name was also Courville - I believe this may be Albert. Hope this all helps! He married a Melina Unknown (1861-1927), born in Quebec, Canada and died in Ramsey County. Alphonse is listed in the 1885 census as married, living with his wife and 4 children in St. Paul. His occupation was a shoemaker. I am intially looking for the last name of his wife, and his marriage, which I believe was about 1878. His first child, Alphonse, was born about 1879 in Minnesota. Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated. 3. Hi Kathie, You certainly have given a lot of your time in answering my question, and believe me, I am very grateful. Will take time today to digest it all and get back to you to let you know how I make out. It can be confusing sometimes, since there were 2 Jasmin brothers who came from Canada and settled in or near St. Paul. I just started with Alphonse to avoid confusion. The other brother was Arsene Jasmin (1859-1947), born in Quebec, who married Azlie Marcotte (abt. 1868-1926), born in Quebec as well. They both died in Ramsey Cty., MN. I don't have a marriage date for them. Thanks again for being such a help!
