    3. I know the history of some of the street names in St. Paul, but my cousin recently discovered a Burg Avenue. I was wondering, how do you go about finding out why the street was named Burg. Would this information be available in print somewhere? Thanks, Pam

    2. Hi Pam, I work with the Ramsey County Historical Society in downtown St Paul. The best resource for street names is a book named Streets Where You Live by Don Epsom --- heard he is working on a 2nd book :) ... It is hard to come by. I am up at the lake right now so I can't look Burg up for you. Someone else may be able to get the definition to you sooner. But, you can alway give me a call at RCHS and I can look up a street for you OR ask here OR keep a lookout for the book. Don did an awesome job on his research for the street names - Regards, Jana Armstead RCHS - 651-222-0701 -----Original Message----- From: Pam Burg <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, 24 Dec 2005 05:04:58 -0600 Subject: [mnramsey] Street Names I know the history of some of the street names in St. Paul, but my cousin recently discovered a Burg Avenue. 3. Dear Pam & List Members, From Donald Empson's - "The Street Where You Live", A guide to the street names of St. Paul, privately published in 1975 (and which I had fun helping him with): Burg Street - Leo J. Burg of Hennepin County was the mortgagee on this property when it was subdivided in 1926. Look soon for Empson's new (updated and enlarged) volume of the book to be published in early 2006! Best regards, Jim Sazevich, Historian St. Paul, Minnesota
