Our new research note for February describes a growing collection of on-line maps and atlases for Minnesota, including the original plat maps drawn by the surveyors for the Government Land Office of the Bureau of Land Management from the 1840s on. These plats show the physical geography of the state before Minnesota became a Territory in 1849. The collection also includes on-line access to the Andreas Atlas of 1874 plus several other landowner atlases. All the maps are in color. (The Andreas was one of the first to have colored in a statewide atlas.)
