Some of you may have already found this website, but for those of you who haven't, you might want to check it out. It's at <http://maps.metro-inet.us/> then follow the 'bread crumbs.' This site uses selected aerial maps to allow you to compare how land within Ramsey County was developed from 1940 to the current day. For example, I live in Roseville, and you can see the development of Rosedale as it rises and expands, the building of the high schools and the demise of some K-8 facilities, the blossoming of residential areas from what were market gardens and farms, etc. On the St. Paul side, I was able to locate a building that was had an electrical fire in the 1950s and was replaced by a bigger building. And of course the interstate highways were put in after 1940. Lots of food for thought in how our families lived! I love maps, and getting them to show this kind of detail is especially fun. Try it!
