Can anyone help me with info on the following family. John Zeppenfeld born in New York (I would guess at the latest around 1853) Married to Gertrude Ganz 28 November, 1867 in Ramsey, Minnesota. I have three children for them: Gertrude (my GGrandmother) born 1872, William Adam born 1875 and Joseph born in 1879. I have recently come across mention of a John Zeppenfield born approx 1873 and listed as being in the 1900 census for Ramsey, Minneosta. I wonder if John Zeppenfield (born in N.Y.) had more children. Can anyone help me with lookups for this family? Thanking You Melinda Kohler
I am trying to find the Death Date for my Gtgrandfather's brother, JOHN MCINTOSH. He was born 1844/45 in New York (don't know if city or state). He married Caroline Falkel in Sangamon Co. Il 1871 and they moved to Renville Co. Mn. He is on the 1910 census for 2nd ward St. Paul with his Daughter, Ann and husband, WILLIAM P. CLYNCH. He is not on the 1920 census and all the John McIntosh's that I have found listed on the Mn. Death list have death dates that I'm sure is too late for him. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you. Louise
Can anyone help her? Respond directly to her, as I don't know if she's on our list or not. There were several cemeteries in St. Paul besides Elmhurst -- Zion (now part of Oakland and German Lutheran), Oakland (non-denominational, which also had a county burial ground), Calvary (Catholic) -- so religion can be a factor, as well as $$$. There are death records microfilmed for St. Paul and Ramsey County by the LDS and available at the Family History Libraries. They are separate because they had separate health departments. Both were keeping records before the State Health Department got into the picture in 1899/1900. Mary >I have a photograph of funeral flowers from my great great >grandmother's funeral. Anyone willing to help him? Please respond directly to him, as I don't know if he is on our list or not. Death certificates do have areas for all the information he is requesting, but since that information is usually provided by a descendant, it's sometime missing because it isn't known. See the St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper, of yesterday, July 20, 2006 for an interesting story about a very old toilet, discovered in the building at 250 E. Seventh St., now undergoing renovation. Plans are to preserve and display the ancient throne! Fun reading for all. lanie paymar wrote: > My dad (Joseph H. Your message regarding the Ryan Building brought back lots of memories. The multi-story building (actually a group of several buildings, built at different times) was located on E. Seventh St., southeast corner of Robert St., at the opposite end of the block from the famous Ryan Hotel, which was on Robert St., northeast corner of Sixth St. So, if you are familiar with downtown St. Paul, the Ryan Bldg. stood across Seventh street from the Emporium Department Store, across Robert street from the Bremer Arcade/Bank Building, and kitty-corner from the Golden Rule Department Store. As a child in the 1950s, I hawked newspapers from a news stand in front of the Ryan Bldg. The first floor of the building then housed the Maurice L. Rothschild -Young Quinlan Clothing Store. Although I was allowed to explore the store, it seemed all too expensive for my meager income. When sales were slow at the news stand, I would venture down the block and stake out the lobby of the Ryan Hotel, where I usually found a few customers. The overly ornate (but then much neglected) six-story Victorian confection, called the Ryan Hotel, was built in the mid-1880s, and was considered the finest hotel in the state of Minnesota. Had it survived, (and it should have) it is likely that every turret, quoin, and column would have been meticulously restored, and today would have been our only five-star hotel. But, like so many others, this extraordinary landmark was targeted during our city's Capitol Centre urban renewal (actually: urban removal) project. The stately Ryan was knocked down and carried away to some distant landfill in 1962, and the adjoining Ryan Building fell a few years later. Today, a modern office building is located on the site of the Ryan Bldg. and Ryan Hotel. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Sazevich, Historian St. Paul, Minnesota
My dad (Joseph H. Paymar) took over Paymar Furniture at 250 E. 7th St. from his dad in the middle 1940s. On the west side was Purity Coffee Shop, then Wacouta St. + then Butwinick Furniture Store. There were apartments above Paymar Furniture. The building is VERY old with great architecture on the outside. (I never was upstairs.) I'd greatly appreciate information on how I can get information on this old building. Thanks very much for your help! Good morning List, I have found an advertisement for Wooley and Shirley, Manufacturing Jewelers and Engravers. Thomas Shirley was my Great Great Grandmother's 2nd husband and I am curious as to where in St. Paul this address, 404-406 Ryan Bldg., would have been located, anyone know?? Is it still there? Hi List: I want to THANK ALL who responded to my plea for help with my mother's Birth Cert. I got responses from numerous people, I especially want to thank John & Annie. I talked to my mother last night and she was at a meeting. They found out at the meeting that she didn't need her birth cert. I am going to send for one anyway as she may need it down the line. Only now I'm not under any time retraints. Again I want to THANK ALL that replied. This list is the greatest keep up the good work. In a message dated 6/20/2006 2:18:45 PM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Hi list: I have a desperate situation. My mother lives in Texas sponsored housing. Well she just got a notice yesterday that she has to have proof she is a American citizen. She needs her birth cert. She has lost it in her many moves around the country. She was born in Ramsey co. MN 21 Apr 1915. Her name was Evern Pauline Lillian Bierschenk. Her father was Richard M. Bierschenk and mother was Ella Nelson. I hope there is someone out there that can help me. She needs her birth cert by 1 July 2006. I tried going to "Random Acts of Kindness". But no one was doing birth cert, all were pictures of gravestones. Bill Forshay - San Antonio, TX Bill, I called the state. You have to go to the state website to order it. You print out a copy of the form, sign it and have it notarized, then you can fax it to them with a creditcard number. Include a letter explaining the problem and asking them to fax a copy to the necessary people, explaining the time constraint, and they will do so as well as sending the original to you. However, to get it in time you would need to pay an extra $20 to have it expedited, so total cost would be $36. The only way someone else could get it for you is if you printed up the application from the state web site and have her sign it and have it notarized, plus have her sign a letter asking that it be released to them stating her full name and that person's full name and then you would have to overnite it to whoever is to pick it up. That letter would also have to be notarized. A certified copy would only be released to you or her. Annie in Minnesota P.S. It can be picked up at any local registrar's office in any county in MN now. The state has computerized everything and you pick up copies in any part of the state now.
I am thinking that they might accept a copy faxed to them from the state of MN until the certified copy can get there. Check with them and then see if the state will fax a copy when sending your certified copy to you. Annie in Minnesota
I checked the births in Minnesota and only came up with the following. Could not find a birth certificate, however, she may have been born at home. My mother did not have a birth certificate however, the census record was accepted in place of it. Good luck.
