    3. Probably the church you are looking for is St. Stanislaus Church. I don't know whether it's in either Ward 4 or 5, but it's just off West 7th St. Some Bohemians also attended St. James and St. Francis de Sales Churches, also near West 7th St. Ruth A. 1. Re: [MNRAMSEY] Birth Parent Search
    2. Sorry I guess I missed answering your query. I have found in my search in St. Paul is the city directories for St. Paul. These directories give you alphabetical listings or each person with their address and place of work. If that doesn't work contact each church in the area where they lived and or all the churchs they might have attended. At the historical center you can check school attendance records. I have found that many births went unrecorded due to the use of midwives and delivering at home. Let me know if you have any luck and I will try to think where else you might go. Sincerely, Norman Ackert

    2. Hello List It has been quite awhile since I have posted and the initial responses that I received were mixed. Some were encouraging, some were promising, and some were replies just to let me know ones own personal views on the subject of locating my birth parents. For those that did provide some insight, THANK YOU. I have still not came any closer toward my search, I hope to someday at least gain closure before it is too late to ever know who I am. Michelle

    1. [MNRAMSEY] Look Up Assistance
    2. Hello -- A few years ago I was doing research in St. Paul (Minnesota Historical Museum) and found the marriage record of Frances E. Bradbury and John M. Varney. They were married in St. Anthony in 1852. It was wonderful seeing that information! I was so excited about seeing the record I 'ignored' the fact that there was another family surname marriage listed further down on the page I was reading. I believe it was a marriage for another Varney family member - but it could have been a Bradbury. Is there anyone 'out there' who could help me with this? I would be happy to reimburse for costs of copying / mailing / scanning for that additional piece of information. I live in Washington and won't be traveling to Minnesota again for a few years. Thanks so much in advance, Sue Manz Graham

    1. [MNRAMSEY] ST. PAUL - HISTORY OF STREET NAMES, ETC.
    2. Jim Sazevich
    3. Dear Friends and List Members, Today, I attended a "publishing party" in St. Paul for the new book, "The Street Where You Live": A Guide to the Place Names of St. Paul, by Donald L. Empson, published by the University of Minnesota Press. Mr. Empson's original volume of "The Street Where You Live", published in 1975, has been out of print for more than 25 years. The new volume is an updated and much enlarged work, and will be a great asset for everyone interested in St. Paul history, and St. Paul families. Because we have talked many times on this list, about the origins of names and geographic locations in St. Paul, I wanted to alert everyone to the publication of this book. It's priced at about $20 + tax. To learn more, you can visit the author's website at: www.empsons.com or the publisher's website at: www.upress.umn.edu/Books/E/empson_street.html Best regards, Jim Sazevich St. Paul, Minnesota

    3. I've just added a link on our cemetery page to the on-line index and maps for Roselawn Cemetery. This cemetery was part of Rose Township when it was founded, and is now in the City of Roseville, across Larpenteur Avenue from the City of St. Paul. The link is at http://www.parkbooks.com/MnGenWeb/cem.html Thanks to Dawn for making me aware of this! Mary Mary Bakeman [email protected] Park Genealogical Books http://www.parkbooks.com

    1. [MNRAMSEY] Fwd: Thomas BURKE of Ramsey County
    2. Mary Bakeman
    3. List members: This person is seeking information on family and descendents of Thomas Burke. Can anyone help? Respond directly to him, as I do not know if he is on our list. Of course, if he died in MN, his death certificate will be available through the MN Historical Society (the free index is available through their website at <www.mnhs.org/>), as will be any newspaper death notices and obituaries. MHS is part of the national interlibrary loan program of public libraries, and your local public library can get them for you. It's a lot of fun to read the advertising, editorials, comics etc. from the era and place your ancestors lived, even if there isn't a lot of new information in a death notice.
