Yes, Ramsey Co. History Center. Give them a call and they will let you know what they have available. It only consists of a small room. If memory serves me correctly.............city directories is what they have. Judy

I don't recall the exact information, probably BMD, that's what I'm always searching for. I do recall that there wasn't much they had except for some city directories. Judy

Several years ago I Iooked at very old large ledger books at the Federal Court Bldg. on Rice Park, fifth street. I had to make an appointment and a person stayed in the room with me, but let me do the looking.

In a message dated 10/4/2007 3:25:50 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: This sounds like the birth record books from St. Paul that used to be in the Courthouse, and now have been moved to the Health Dept. on Cedar. They've also been microfilmed, and are available through the FHL. They are now held at 555 Wabasha, I believe, and they will not let you look at them now, they will look for you, but as far as I know you can't look at them yourself any more. At least the one time I went there I couldn't. The woman acted like I was asking to steal the silverware. Gaye asks about finding record of a St Paul birth from 1882. I had a similar problem with my mother's mother's family who were born about the same time. Eventually I went back to St Paul and found an office downtown where you could look at some old ledger books containing births from that time. It has been several years now, and unfortunately I forget the name of the office. I want to say it was on Kellogg. Anyway, the old ledgers listed the parents' names and gave dates of birth, but not always the name of the child. These were very early records, but can be helpful if you know the date of birth. Other than that, you might look for church records if you know the correct church. Bart in Virginia

Your query is now posted at www.parkbooks.com/MnGenWeb/see_quer.html You can check the free birth and death indexes on the Minnesota Historical Society website, if you haven't already. Their home page is at <www.mnhs.org/> and both of them have links there. Thanks for including the specific dates and places within the county -- that should help others with information on this family easily connect to your line. Hello list, Have several questions that perhaps someone can clarify, and/ or offer some guidance. My names of interest are James MacLeod b. abt 1870, d. 7/15/1912 in Hennepin Co. He was an architect and had lived at 485 Summit Ave, a house which he drafted and resided in. Does this home still exist? Where is St. Paul Co.? Other names are Rudolph Schiffman b. 8/1845 d. 12/1926. He supposedly lived at 495 Summit Ave from about 1893 until the early 1900's. Does this home still exist? Rudolph Schiffman was a medicine manufacturer with a plant supposedly at 369 Jackson St. Would these buildings still stand today? Story has it that he moved his medicine manufacturing to California and Berlin in the early 1900's. Anyone with any knowledge of either the MacLeod's or Schiffman's- I would greatly appreciate in hearing from you. Additionally, anyone that can provide knowledge of these areas would be helpful also. Hello List, Recent research has included James Allen MacLeod, architect of The Lake County Courthouse back in 1906. James was born abt. 1870 and died in Hennepin County on 7/15/1912. Considering the many MacLeod's whom based on today's searches, still live in Minnesota, I am curious to know if there is anyone whom perhaps connects with the MacLeod family of this young man. Am interested in hearing from any MacLeod researchers. Will share all info I have in exchange for same. Thanks in advance, Kenny Schmid in KY http://schmidgenealogy.homestead.com/Schmid.html "Connecting Great Relatives-1 Person at a time" > All outbound mail is virus scanned for your protection
Hi all I have a another story like this: only it involves my great great grandmother and her son my great grandfather, here it goes; G great gram dies in 1901 of cancer is buried, then my great grandfather died from a fall and was buried in 1906, with her, sometime after that, another son buys a big family plot, goes and gets mom to put with him, She was buried first then Grandpa on top, the brother puts his brother back in the old grave with no marker! if he could by that plot could he not afford a marker for his brother! Happy hunting!
