Finally, learned on 7/30/00 that my grandmother, Vernie Shively Bowles died in Polk Co.,MN in Jan. 1970. Was told that my father's birthplace was Pleasant Lake, ND but have had no luck locating the Bowles name in any ND searches yet. Any information is greatly appreciated. I do know that Vernie Shively Bowles had four children, Merle, David, Gerald (my father) and Richard and that they moved to Kentucky when my father was about 8. Also that he and his brother Richard were placed in an orphanage which I believe was in Northern Kentucky.
