He was born May 29, 1884 at Gentilly, Minn., and was also married there to Delima Amiot in 1904. Surviving are his wife, and two sons, Daniel J. Mercil and Alexander J. Mercil, both of Wyoming, Minn.; 3 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. While in Crookston, he was a clerk with the Mercil and Sylvestre Grocery Store, a member of St Anne’s Catholic Church, active in the Elks Lodge No. 342, a past member of the Eagles Lodge. He has lived in the Minneapolis area since 1927. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St Anne’s Catholic Church, with Fr Gerald Foley as celebrant. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. the evening before (Sunday) at Houske Funeral Home. Friends may call at Houske’s from 4 to 9 Sunday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers for Lewis Mercil are H.J. Brunelle, Clarence Capistran, Philip Fontaine, Godfrey Keller, M.J. Mercil and Nap Regimbal. Casketbearers are Arthur Amiot, Edgar Amiot, Adrien Mercil, James Mercil, John D. Mercil and Keith S. Mercil.
