Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/433 Surname: ------------------------- My g/g/uncle Frank Patrick Sheasgreen, a native of New Brunswick, Canada, came to Crookston c. 1879 as manager of a planing mill owned by the Red River Lumber Company. He was accompanied by his new wife, Harriet (Keating) Sheasgreen, also born in NB. Harriet died within a couple of years, presumably in Crookston, for Frank married, in 1882, Mary Buckley. My question has to do with obtaining death records for Harriet: would there have been a Catholic church in Crookston at the time? a Catholic cemetery? Was there a newspaper where I might obtain an obituary? Many thanks! Jim MacKenzie Brighton, ON
Hi Jim, There is a fair bit of information at the GenExchange Polk County Site that mentions places to check for vital statistics like birth, marriage and death records. Also, there is a listing under cemetery listings that mentions all the cemeteries in Polk County and what town they are close to. It is likely that you could find more information about other things as well. Please feel free to post your Sheasgreen names and information on the site. That way, if someone know something about them, they will be able to find you. If I can be of any assistance while using the site, please let me know. I did find this one listing for a MN Sheasgreen name, from the book mentioned here The Upson Family in America Author: The Upson Family Association of America This book contains the history and genealogy of the Upson family of Connecticut.
