It was desired to move a threshing outfit across a ravine. The engine pulled across first and the separator was run to the middle of the depression by hand. The engine then backed down with the intention of coupling on and hauling the machine across. The engineer could not stop it, however, as it neared the machine, and Engineer Trudeau was crushed between the firebox and the self feeder, while the fireman jumped but had his hand caught and badly crushed. It was several minutes before the men could release the two injured men. The separator man leaped to the ground just in time or he would have been killed. source: Crookston Times Saturday September 25 1909
