My family originally came from Luxembourg before or during the Civil War (between 1850-1863?). Peter Becker was born in Luxembourg and married Mary Biever. I have very little on the Beckers - Parents, siblings birthplace etc. I have more on his wife's family. The Bievers Lived for a while in Reeds Landing Wabasha Co. Mary's parents were Maria Schortzin (or Schortgen) (From Arlon?) and Michel Biever b 1827 Hondeldange, Belgium m.1851 Udange Belgium, immgr. USA 1861-62. Lived in Wisc. moved to Reads (or Reeds?)Landing in 1870. Later moved west to Euclid in Polk County (Near Crookston?)d. Polk county 1894. Marys siblings were Katherine, Clara, Tim, Henry, Anna And Margaret. Peter Becker married Mary Biever in St Felix Church, Wabasha, MN. They later moved to Crookston and family history has him owning an Ice house. He was naturalized in Crookston in 1886. They had four children that I know of, John Becker Romanus Becker Elizabeth Becker and Michael Peter Becker (my grandfather)The family story goes on to say that a disastrous spring flood washed away all of the other ice houses in the area leaving the other proprieters with no option but to pool their resources and buy Peter Becker's ice house. He then moved his family to Los Angeles, CA. They must have moved there before 1895 since a I have a letter with envelope that he recieved from a man in Crookston with that date on it. Some Bievers also moved there. Henry Biever and sister Mary Biever and maybe others. I would be ever so grateful if you can shed any light on my Biever and Becker origins and would be happy to offer any additional info that I might have. Michael Becker Dublin, Ireland
