I am interested in the listing for burials at Holy Cross Cemetery at Gentilly. I recently visited Crookston and could not find my grandfather at Oakdale Cemetery, though his death certificate stated such. Also, my grandmother's death was noted in an article in the Crookston newspaper, but I could not find her in the Polk County death register (not required in 1900). Gentilly is included in my list of "things to do". Ida Waterstrat Grauert died on 4-20-1900. Wm. H. Grauert died on 11-26-1912. If your intent is to send a complete listing that would be fine as I could note like spelling and like sounding names. His name was Eugene Louis Quesnell and he was born in France 12Feb1842. That is really all that we know. Supposedly he was brought to the states by a Catholic Orphanage and when he grew up he ran away. He ended up in Owensboro Kentucky. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Dorothy Quesnell

Posted on: Polk County Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk?read=289 Surname: ANDERSON ------------------------- Elisabeth Anderson was born in the village of Mo in parish of Berg (Hoverberg) in the county Jamtland in Sweden. She must have been born around 1870.She emigrated to USA in the late of 1800.She was married to a swede...maybe she met him over there? Sorry to say I don't have his name. They got three children; two sons and a daughter: Hugo, Sigurd and maybe Agnes (I'm not sure of the girls name)They must have been born around 1900-1910. The whole family visited Sweden in 1920,maybe they planned to move back? So my mother thought, but hey didn't.They returned to USA or Canada (?) My mother Ingeborg, born 1913 and her older sister Anna and brother Erik used to talk about these american "cousins" and they told us children about them. My grandmother Ingrid Ekberg 1872-1954 got christmas-cards from them and I remember names of places like St Paul, Duluth, Minnesota, Seattle,Edmonton -so they must have been moving around. I also remember photos of them standing infront of a white house and even with a car and the photos must have been from the era 1920 -as I remember the typical clothing. But the contact ended around 1950, maybe because Elisabeth past away in the late of the 1940? as I heard from the old folks. But I have often thought about the american relatives and wondered what happened to them all? The children of Elisabeth must have had great memories from the long journey to Sweden and they must have talked about and looked at photos, and they must have told their children and later the grand-children....and us they never visited the homevillage again, the journey must have been a great memorie in the family. As all my old folks are gone and nothing left of cards and photos, I try this way to maybe get a contact. I search the web for a while, and someone told me to try the Winger -area in Polk as there used to live many from Sweden (?) SO: are there still grandchildren or great-(great)-grandchildren remembering this familyjorney to the old homecountry and you recognise the names and you think that this is "our" Elisabeth please contact me . And are there others that think you know this family, please let me know.

I can recommend an organization called the Valdres Samband Lag which can often help people with their ancestry in Valdres. Here is the URL to their web site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/4842/ They have access to a lot of resources and might be able to help you figure out just where your ancestor came from in Valdres. (The Lien farm was called "Septon" before 1830, in case you come across that name.) Good luck!!! Martha Hicks
