Hi Loretta, You have come to the right person---I have the entire line of Mercil's. Was going to print out the info but discovered it is 333 pages long. The Mercil's were pretty much related to everyone in Red Lake County. I don't have the Amiot's very far though so we need to exchange info. I hate to leave you dangling, but will be busy for the next few days so will get back to you on Friday. I am related to the Amiots and Audettes. Maiden name was St. Michel. Also have a few contacts for you----Peggy Morinville Houle has much on the Dufaults. Talk to you on Friday.
Bygland Luthern Church is now and has always been located South of East Grand Forks. I think you have this mixed up. I have forwarded this message to my brother in law who is a member there. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jon Raymond <jraymond651@AOL.COM> To: <MNPOLK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 07, 2000 5:19 PM Subject: [MNPOLK-L] Byland Lutheran Church > Posted on: Polk County Queries > Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/346 > > Surname: Olson > ------------------------- > > Bygland Lutheran Church was north of East Grand Forks, Polk County, on > Hiway 220. Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/352 Surname: Olson ------------------------- I'm sorry, but I'm getting my towns confused (been away from Polk County for too long). Bygland is 10 miles south of East Grand Forks on Hiway 220. The church info I posted previously was for another town 10 miles north of EGF. My apologies for the confusion. I would suggest you try a yellow pages search for churches in the Bygland/Fisher area. Anyone of them should be able to tell you where to look.

Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/348 Surname: Stinar ------------------------- Tabor is such a small town I doubt it has a "city cemetery." Try a yellow pages search for churches in the general area and call one of them. You'll probably find the cemetery. The Stinar name is well-known in Polk County. There is also a Stinar Nursery in Fosston, MN. They might be related.
Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/347 Surname: General ------------------------- Researchers unfamiliar with western Polk County, especially the East Grand Forks area, should be aware of important facts. EGF is on the ND border. Across the border (Red River of the North), is Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, ND. EGF has never had a hospital and until the mid-1960s did not have a cemetery (Resurrection). If you believe a birth/death/burial was "in East Grand Forks," you should try Grand Forks (vitalrec@state.nd.us). The two oldest cemeteries in Grand Forks are Calvary and Memorial Park.
