Gertrude Carter married Henry Francis in 1906 in Crookston. Henry Francis was in the grocery business..??Gertrude was born in 1885 and moved to Crookston in 1889.

    2. Bruce Horte
    3. Hi to all! I'm new! And I'm wondering if..... 1) Someone might know of the surname HORTE 2) My husbands grandfather Anthon Horte and his wife Ingrid along with children did live in the area of Neilsville, from mid 1800 to 1900 3) Two of the children died there, being they were Norwegian Lutheran people I would think that the graves would be in a church cemetary... somewhere... but where? 4) The senior HORTE, arrived from Norway, dying at Neilsville, I think. His name was Christen Andreasson Horte. Where was he buried too??? 5)The family came from Horte farm, Telemark, Norway. 6) Anthon Horte's brother Carl was also in this area. 7)I would be so pleased to hear from anyone who could find out , or has any info on this family as I live in Northern Alberta, Canada and the distance is to great for me to search. Thanks so much in advanca. Please e-mail me at hbhorte@telusplanet.net,,,, Norma Horte

    2. Jon Raymond
    3. Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/385 Surname: Clairmont ------------------------- The MN Historical Society in St. Paul has two valuable sources for Polk County: Pictorial Atlas of Polk County (1970) and Compendium of History and Biography of Polk County. The Atlas lists landowners by township and pictures of local families sorted by township. The Compendium has biographies of local families. If you know they homesteaded in Polk, try the blm.gov web site. I hope this helps.
