I am looking for information about Peter J. Trygstad, my grandfather's brother. Peter and his wife Martha lived at McIntosh in Polk County for a time around the turn of the century (19th to 20th century that is). Peter and Martha had children Stella Georgianna and James Edmund born in Dodge County, MN in 1892 and 1894. Their next child Walter Trueman was born Aug. 09, 1897. I know he was born in MN, but I do not know where. Peter went to look for gold in Alaska in 1898, returning to MN in 1901. I do not know where his family was during this period, perhaps at McIntosh because I know they were there in 1902. Laila Amanda was born June 06, 1902 in MN, likely at McIntosh. Peter and Martha also had a child Milton or Melton who died young. I do not know in which order he was born, although I have found him listed in family documents between Walter and Laila. Their next child Gladys Irene was born perhaps about 1906 in ND. The family apparently left Polk County between 1902 and 1904 or 05 as at least Peter was at Velva, ND in 1904. In about 1909 or 1910, the family left ND and went on to somewhere in MT. They eventually ended up in Tacoma, WA. Can anyone help me find birth records of Walter, Laila and possibly Milton (Melton?)? Also perhaps there is a death record for Milton or Melton in Polk County. Would there possibly be land records, perhaps homestead records, for Peter in Polk County? Thank you very much. Ina was born Oct. 11, 1914, to John and Elizabeth (Fristrom) Lind in Becida, Mn. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to a farm near Union Lake, rural Winger. She married Yngve Lundin in May of 1934 in McIntosh. They farmed near Winger until Yngve and their son, Yngve Jr., died in a boating accident June 20, 1953. She married Arthur Gulbranson Aug. 17, 1957 in McIntosh. They lived in Bagley until 1960 when they moved to Minneapolis. They retired in Fertile in 1975. She resided in Fair Meadow Nursing Home for two years before entering Pioneer this past September. She was a member of Union Lake Free Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband of Erskine; three daughters, Joanne (Carsten) Zahl, Winger. Linda (Peter) Haedtke, Winona and Kathy (Neil) Christenson, Plmouth. A stepson, Orville, Brooklyn Center, a stepdaughter, Darla (Robert) Jackson Bemidji. Six grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren; several great grandchildren. Four sisters, Evelyn Larson,Starbuck; Bernice (Don) Halverson Minneapolis; Jennie (Bill) Lee Fertile and Joyce(Robert) Johnston Fridley, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband and son, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Lester, Chester and Raymond and three sisters, Alice, Agnes and Winnefred. The funeral was held on Saturday, November 4 2000 at Union Lake Free Lutheran Church with Pastor Wes Johnanson officiating. Pallbearers were Carsten Zahl, Peter Haedtke, Neil Christenson, Danel Haedtke, Daniel Zahl and Eric Johnson. Interment was made in Lima Cemetery, rural Erskine.

I am looking for a possible marriage between Catherine Sullivan and ? Thorrson in Polk County between 1876- 1880. Does Crookston county records have marriage records that early? If so, is there anyone in Crookston who would be willing to do a lookup for me? Catherine Sullivan came to East Grand Forks in 1876 and there is a Catherine Thorrson (correct age) living with her uncle's family in the 1880 census. He was accompanied by his new wife, Harriet (Keating) Sheasgreen, also born in NB. Harriet died within a couple of years, presumably in Crookston, for Frank married, in 1882, Mary Buckley. I went to HS with his son, Steve. Steve was on the EGF city council at one point. Most of the Gormans are buried in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. The exception is Etta, who is buried in Minneapolis with her husband, name unknown. Were you able to obtain a copy of the article I found at the MNHS?
