Champagne on the Naturalization Records Index from Polk County. He may have come to the area about 1881. I am looking for information on him or a family in the area. He was in Idaho in 1880-81 and left quite a legacy which it appears he knew little about. I am writing a history of an area in Butte County, Idaho, where he ran a stage station and a Creek was named after him. Any family that might be related will be given copies of some historic documents he left behind. J. W. McGill jwmcgill@mindspring.com

    1. [MNPOLK-L] Ellef Aasen of Crookston, Minnesota
    2. Ellef Aasen was son of Clemmet Ellefsen Aasen (father) and Gunhild Marie Iversdatter Tonseth. He was born 17 Feb 1871 in Roros town (Sor Trondelag county) and left Oslo Harbour (Norway) on 17 Apr 1891 bound for the US. In the papers it is written that he was bound for Crookston, Minnesota. Any information regarding possible family, wife, children and/or death in Minnesota is appreciated. I live in Massachusetts. Thank you in advance. This individual is my cousin's Uncle and he is having a hard time gathering any information. :) Thanks again George Olson

    2. Pamela Johnson
    3. Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mn/Polk/480 Surname: SANDEMOEN, BERGAN, ANDERSEN, OLSDATTER, ANDREASDATTER ------------------------- My SANDEMOEN family came from Norway to the U.S. in 1867 and originally settled in Houston county, MN. The family included: Andreas ANDERSEN SANDEMOEN Eline OLSDATTER SANDEMOEN **Anne Marie ANDREASDATTER SANDEMOEN **Evina (Elvina) ANDREASDATTER SANDEMOEN **Olaus ANDREASSEN SANDEMOEN (my gg grandfather) Sometime in the 1870s, the SANDEMOEN family went to Norman and/or Polk county. Daughter Evina SANDMOEN was married to Louis Lars Bergan in Norman County in 1883, and I believe her mother Eline SANDEMOEN died there in 1907. Olaus had returned to Houston county by 1880, but his 1882 marriage certificate states that he was from Polk county. Since I am not clear as to exactly when my SANDEMOENs were in this area, and I do not know exactly when Polk county land started to be referred to as Norman county, I am posting this message in both counties. I am looking for any SANDEMOEN relations or any information on this family.
