Need information about him to match him against a lost emigrant in my familyline His name was Anders Johan Ekman. Could be that Andrew John is his english name. If he don't match my relative I can rule this link out with your help.
Can anyone give me the correct email address for the above? I've sent some photo's but they keep bouncing back as undeliverable! There is an email listed on the page, but it is obviously misprinted or something. Thankyou. -Brenda cgaetz@mb.sympatico.ca
Posted on: Polk County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mn/Polk/10545 Surname: BIEVER, BECKER ------------------------- Hello, I have BIEVER and BECKER ancestors in POLK county. My family originally came from Luxembourg before or during the Civil War (between 1850-1863?). Peter Becker was born in Luxembourg and married Mary Biever. I have very little on the Beckers - Parents, siblings birthplace etc. I have more on his wife's family. The Bievers Lived for a while in Reeds Landing Wabasha Co. Mary's parents were Maria Schortzin (or Schortgen) (From Arlon?) and Michel Biever b 1827 Hondeldange, Belgium m.1851 Udange Belgium, immgr. USA 1861-62. Lived in Wisc. moved to Reads (or Reeds?)Landing in 1870. Later moved west to Euclid in Polk County (Near Crookston?)d. Polk county 1894. Marys siblings were Katherine, Clara, Tim, Henry, Anna And Margaret. Peter Becker married Mary Biever in St Felix Church, Wabasha, MN. They later moved to Crookston and family history has him owning an Ice house. He was naturalized in Crookston in 1886. They had four children that I know of, John Becker Romanus Becker Elizabeth Becker and Michael Peter Becker (my grandfather)The family story goes on to say that a disastrous spring flood washed away all of the other ice houses in the area leaving the other proprieters with no option but to pool their resources and buy Peter Becker's ice house. He then moved his family to Los Angeles, CA. They must have moved there before 1895 since a I have a letter with envelope that he recieved from a man in Crookston with that date on it. Some Bievers also moved there. Henry Biever and sister Mary Biever and maybe others. I would be ever so grateful if you can shed any light on my Biever and Becker origins and would be happy to offer any additional info that I might have. Michael Becker Dublin, Ireland

He was born in 1886, and worked for the Norther Pacific Railroad. We understand he was in the Army in WW1. The name is based on the farm named Eldegarden very near Øvre Årdal. That area is in the Sognefjord and is north east of Bergen. We have got a huge family tree on the Ellegård family. Spelling for the name has become either Ellegard or Ellegard. You can take a look at our web page for some backgroud (http://www.users.qwest.net/~toddhollyconnor/genelink.htm#CA) Yes we would very much like either the photo or a copy of the photo. We have one picture of him driving two horses with a wagon full of army men. Might this be the same photo". Almost as important would be feedback on the story behind the photo..... Todd Ellegard

Regarding Madeline Turner's request and disclosure that she is doing research on the RAD I and Wentzel families. I would be interested in hearing from you, Madeline. In doing research on my ancestors in Polk County, I found the following: In a 1913 death notice in the Crookston Times for Fredericke Waterstradt, listed as deceased children/stepchildren to Fredericke were Mrs. Henry Krogman, Mrs. Radi and the first Mrs. Julius Zimmerman. A Carl and Minna Radi were listed in St. Paul's registry as godparents to Martha Krogman, daughter of Berthat Waterstradt and Henry Krogman. This was Sept. 1899. My take was that Minna Radi was the former Wilhelmina Waterstradt and a daughter to Fredericke Waterstradt. I also believe Fredericke was the mother of my grandmother, Ida Waterstrat Grauert. It would be interesting to learn if your Radi was related to my Waterstrat.
