Hello, please allow me to introduce myself to the list. My wife, Jenifer, is the Great Great Granddaughter of Harry Nichols Sargeant, for whom Sargeant, MN was named. Harry was born in Stukely, Shefford, Quebec Jun. 19, 1817. He married Ann Stevens Parker on Dec. 22, 1838. Harry died Jan 25, 1884 in Mower Co., MN, at 66 years of age. His body was interred Jan 27, 1884 in Stewartville, Olmsted Co., MN, High Forest Cemetery. Because of the naming of the town I am interested in both information on the family and the town itself. I have a copy of Sargeant's centennial book. I also have a record of him in the 1870 census. What I am looking for is further information on the town of Sargeant or memorabilia - keepsakes that would include the name. For starters, I would like to know who publishes the local phone book there. I would love to get a copy of a phone book with Sargeant, MN on the cover. Other things that might be of interest would be contacting businesses with the name Sargeant in the business name and seeing if I can get a business card or some advertising with Sargeant on it. You see, anything with the name Sargeant on it would be fun to put in the family album and share with other family members. We are expecting our first child in April and I am going to have quite a genealogy of the Sargeant family already completed.
