I wanted to announce a new surname list on Rootsweb. It is for the STAVENAU surname. Some variant spellings are Stavanau, Stavnaw, etc. In the past, Rootsweb has tried to set up different surname lists and message boards for all variant spellings of a surname, since with computers, etc. a word or name must be spelled exactly most of the time to do a key word search, etc. There was a Stavenau/Stavanau family that lived at Waterville, MN from the late 1800s on. Some of this family lived/live near Elysian, MN. Feel free to join the new list and post a message if you have anything to share.
