I'm looking for descendants of Thomas and Sarah (Purnell) Montgomery. He was b in Ireland, 1841, d. St. Paul 1907. She was b in England, d in Mpls in 1940. They had 7 children -- Thomas was prominent in the Masons -- his father was a Methodist minister. After coming from Canada in 1856, the Montgomery family lived in Cleveland, Le Sueur Co. He met Sarah while serving in the 7th MN Infantry, in South Bend, outside Mankato. He joined in 1862, transferred to the US Colored Troops after the Indian campaign was over, and retired as a Major in 1867. That's when he and Sarah married, and they moved to St. Peter, where he was a partner with Theo. G Carter in a real estate business, and the children were born. They moved to St. Paul ca. 1890 -- both Thomas and Sarah were very prominent in various Masonic enterprises -- also members of the Hamline Methodist Episcopal Church. Son Edmund was a Hennepin Co. District Court Judge. Charles lived in St. Paul, Thomas in New Brighton. I know daughter Edith went to Pipestone, and another son (Grant) to Texas. But I've not been able to track all the children -- I am interested in corresponding with descendants. Any hints or clues gladly accepted.
