I recently heard or read somewhere (I have an excellent memory, but it's short!!) that new citizens had to file a detailed Petition for Citizenship or some such document five years before citizenship was granted. I understand that the petition was far more detailed than the grant itself and it was filed with a county office. I just called the Recorder's Office in Le Center and was told that they do not have that kind of document there and she did not know what county office might have it. Can anyone tell me where to find such a document if it indeed does exist? I am looking for clues as to what part of Sweden my maternal grandmother, Mathilda Charlotta (Swenson) Forsberg came from.
