    3. The Minnesota Historical Society has placed their book "Minnesota Places" on their website -- <www.mnhs.org/> which is very helpful. In addition to locations of places, many of which no longer exist, there is often biographical or other historical information about why the place was named, whether it was a railroad station, ethnicity of the early settlers, etc. Fun to get some background and an extra window on an ancestor's life!
