Is there a list of the people buried at Woodland Cemetery? Thanks Patrick
Hi Kaye, 1860 MN Census for Nicollet County, Traverse Township (near the Minnesota River north of Mankato) Louis Laramie married Tatodoota/Tateduta/Red Wind/Mary Red Iron by Father Augustine Ravoux around 1842 Mendota, MN. Mary was Sisseton/Wahpeton Indian (two of the seven Santee Tribes (Eastern Sioux) of MN) Children were Rosalie, Josephine Allaine, Louisa, Edward, and Narcisse McNeal (all marked as Indian on 1860 census records) Rosalie is my greatgreat grandmother whose records I have and her sister Louisa`s records. I going after Edward right now. After the Sisseton and Wahpeton were put on there reservation on the ND/SD/MN border Edward became a Indian Scout at Fort Wadsworth which was torn down and put back up three times between the three state borders, ending up near Sisseton, then renamed Fort Sisseton. That`s the last record I`ve got on Edward. Rosalie died in the Twin Cities and Louisa in Nicollet County, don`t know if the other kids went with the Indians or stayed in MN. Thanks Patrick

Did anyone ever answer your message? I know someone answered my question on this years ago and I received good copies. I could look up their address if you still need it. Statement of Louisa Carpenter. (Taken August, 1901.) "My father was Louis Laramie, a Canadian Frenchman. I am 57 years old (summer, 1901) and a widow. I was born here at Traverse in 1844. My father was in the employ of the Fur Company at Traverse many years before I was born, but I do not know when he came here. His first wife died here and was probably buried in the little French cemetery. He married my mother at Mendota about 1842 or 1843. Mother was his second wife. Father Ravoux married them. Mother`s maiden name was Mary Red Iron, daughter of the old Chief Red Iron. Father was much older than mother. He died at Traverse on January 1st, 1863, soon after the Indians were hung in Mankato. Mother was a full blooded Sioux. LISTED ON THE 1860 MINNESOTA CENSUS FOR NICOLETT COUNTY, TRAVERSE TOWNSHIP; Louis Laramie, age 56, Shoemaker, b.Upper Canada Ta~to~doo~ta Laramie, age 36, wife, Indian, b.MN Rosalie Laramie, age 19, b.MN Josephine Allain, age 19, b.MN Louisa Laramie, age 16, b.MN Edward Laramie, age 14, b.MN Narcisse McNeal, age 11 mos., b.MN Rosalie Laramie is my great great grandmother, thanks for any information, Patrick.

Here is a web address telling about John Dalby's transcriptions of cemeteries (he has also transcribed every marker in each of these cemeteries) for an 11-county region of Minnesota, including Le Sueur County. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnrice/dalby.htm This is from the Rice County, MN web site. The page tells what other kinds of records he has transcribed & also where printed copies of these records may be found (including the cemetery records). It also says he will do look-ups (but I'm sure he is a busy man). A copy of his work may be found at the Le Sueur County Genealogical Society, Elysian, Mn. His information is also available online through Ancestry.com if you have a paid subscription or can get in on one of their free introductory offers. Some local libraries also subscribe to Ancestry, so you might be able to access Dalby's cemetery records online on Ancestry if you live near a large library. --Glenn Gohr [email protected]
Does anyone have access to the transcribed cemetery records for Mound Cemetery in LeSueur, Minnesota and could provide me with the details for all BODE's buried there. Thanks in advance. Joan
I had the same question in 1998 and was told that Darrell D. Kolden, Kolden Funeral Service, 529 Turril Street, Le Sueur, MN, 56058, has the records for the Mound Cemetery. Each time I have written to him, he has sent me a copy of (in my case the "Smith" index), and a cemetery map that shows where their burials are. This map is often very helpful as their "neighbors" in burial are usually other family members. Good luck with your research, MaryLu ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff & Joan Smith" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 08, 2003 8:35 PM Subject: [MNLESUEU] LeSueur Cemetery Records > Does anyone have access to the transcribed cemetery records for Mound > Cemetery in LeSueur, Minnesota and could provide me with the details for all > BODE's buried there. > > Thanks in advance.
