My husband's grandmother was Lelia Pope Burnett. She died before he was born so he never knew her and we have very little info on her. But I do remember the relatives talking about Aunt Sophie and I noticed in Toni Napier's posts that she listed both a Lelia and a Sophie as some of the children of Anna Elizabeth and John Pope. Our Lelia married John Burnett in Minnesota. They came to Oregon and homesteaded on land in Crook County in 1909. I'm not sure if that is when they first arrived from Minnesota or if they had been somewhere else in Oregon for a while. She and John had four children: Vi, Melvin, Merlin ('Red'-my father-in-law), and Eddie. All of them are gone now. Leila died in Harrisburg, Oregon about 1947 or 48. 1. Stavenau e-mail list on Rootsweb
    2. Glenn Gohr
    3. I wanted to announce a new surname list on Rootsweb. It is for the STAVENAU surname. Some variant spellings are Stavanau, Stavnaw, etc. In the past, Rootsweb has tried to set up different surname lists and message boards for all variant spellings of a surname, since with computers, etc. a word or name must be spelled exactly most of the time to do a key word search, etc. There was a Stavenau/Stavanau family that lived at Waterville, MN from the late 1800s on. Some of this family lived/live near Elysian, MN. Feel free to join the new list and post a message if you have anything to share. To subscribe, send an e-mail to: [email protected] Leave subject line blank (This will be ignored). In the body of the message type: Subscribe Then, once Rootsweb welcomes you to the list, to post a message to everyone on the list, send your query message to: [email protected] Sincerely, Glenn Gohr (List Manager)
