My great grandfather Ole Johnsen Steberg b. 1831 changed his name to STAI when he came to US. My great grandmother name was STAI. So Ole was a STEBERG and had a brother who lived in the Wilmar area. John Steberg b. 1843 and wife Marit b. 1836. They had three sons. Am still looking for one of them. Your gg grandfather Karinus Knudsen Stai, I do not think there is a connection.
