"An Atwater Man Killed In Stearns County. Last Monday evening a dispatch came to this station announcing that John Bradley, a well known young farmer who has for a number of years resided near Atwater, had been killed by the cars, at Avon, a station in Stearns county, on the line of the St. P., M., & M. Railroad. The message was promptly delivered to Bradley's wife and parents, who reside on a farm about a mile north of town. Consternation and woes filled that household when the parents heard that their only son and only child, who just the Thursday before had left home, full of life, healthy, and in the strong vigor of his young manhood, had been so suddenly summoned to meet his Maker in the other world. The grief of the mother was especially unconsolable. Bradley was a young man only 23 years old, and leaves a wife and only child. The father and wife of the unfortunate young man started next morning for Avon, with the intention of bringing the body to this place for interment. Upon arriving there they changed their mind, and the remains were laid away among strangers. Mr. Bradley's theory is that his son was murdered, and the body placed on the road to cover up the tracks of the bloody deed. Facts and cicamstances have come to light which give plasability to this theory. It is known that John was engaged in a fight, a pool of blood was found in the depot, cries were heard, and no engineer or trainman has any knowledge of running over a body. He was terribly mangled, his head and one of his arms being completely severed, the arm being found a mile from where he was lying."
