Died 11/2/1915 in Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota and was buried in First Lutheran Cemetery, Norway Lake, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. He married Bertha Marie SKAALRUD, October 5.1860 in Stillwater, Minnesota. Daughter Ida was born 3/6/1875 in Norway Lake, Minnesota and died 4/13/1949 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She married Knute Halvorson HANDE on 6/8/1905 in Sunburg, Minnesota. Daughter Caroline was born in Minnesota Son Robert Martin was born 11/7/1865 in Minnesota Son John was born 3/22/1867 in Minnesota Daughter Bertha Marie was born 1/12/1869 in Minnesota and died 4/13/1911 in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota Son Edwin Charles was born 10/18/1870 in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. Son Robert Harold was born 8/3/1906 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota and died 1/7/1972 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota Daughter Lorraine Elizabeth was born 9/16/1914 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota and died 7/30/1981 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She married Nils Edmund ALVIG on 7/1/1949 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota (Relative to my mother-in-laws family) Daughter Gertrude Amy was born 11/25/1908 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota and died 12/2/1972 in Superior, Wisconsin. Daughter Evelyn Caroline was born 10/20/1912 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota and died 6/15/1933 in Belgrade, Sterns County, Minnesota. Three other daughters were born, but I do not know their names. Lorraine and Nils ALVIG had two children. Daughter Helen Anne who was born 1/4/1930 in Minnesota. She married Donald ONNEN. They have two children. Son Bruce and daughter Jennifer. Son James Roger who was born 8/16/1944 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. James married Cathy LANAMEN. They have two children, son David James who was born 1977 in Minnesota and daughter Amy Louise born before 5/1981. Nils Edmund ALVIG was born on 1/3/1907 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota and died 7/31/1986. Nils was the son of Peder Pederson-ALVIG who was born on 3/22/1849 in Ytre Aalvik, Norway. Peder died on 10/16/1942 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. Peder married Anna Endreson-ROSSELAND. Anna was born on 10/5/1859 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota and died 9/19/1944 in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. They had a total of 15 children including Nils. Anna was the daughter of Guri Endreson who saved a number of settlers during the Sioux uprising of 1862. They is a monument in Guri's honor and the original log cabin was donated by the family, where she had lived. Guri's fallen husband in buried by the cabin where he was killed by the Indians. My husband is one of Guri's great grandsons. We live in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. My mother-in-law was the granddaughter of Guri ENDRESON ALVIG. (Gertrude ALVIG Carlson) James ALVIG lives in Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota. My brother-in-law Philip Carlson still lives on the family farm in Willmar, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota where the ALVIG family homesteaded when President Grant signed the petition.
