I have sent out several messages trying to reach this family, and if I can't find them, I am going to try putting them up for sale on an on-line auction in an attempt to reach the family. Please let me know if it could be your family. There may be a connection to Margaret Halsey the author as I found a news clipping in the books pertaining to her dated 1963. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

Brief services took place at the Johnson Funeral home where the officiating clergyman, Rev. O. E. T. Peterson, sang a song and Miss Karine Larson sang a solo. The old bell in the steeple of the Lebanon church tolled as the cortege wended its way through the village and arrived at the church, parrying the remains of one who was in all probability the first white child born in the original Nest Lake congregation. Eighty-one years ago Rev. Peterson delivered a very telling discourse, read a brief biography and gave the names of donors of gifts for worthy causes which had been given in honor of the memory of the deceased. Rev. Peterson sang an opening song; Misses Loraine and Maxine Fremberg, nieces of the deceased, and Misses Hazel and Sylvia Olander sang duets; and Miss Karine Larson sang the closing song. Miss Hazel Olander presided at the pipe organ. It was and i! mpressive service. The interment took place in the church yard close by. The pallbearers were Arnold Henjum, Wallace, Clarence and Arthur Lindahl, Waldon Nelson and Alvin Nordin. Grandsons of the deceased. There was a large attendance of friends to pay their respects to the memory of the deceased. Mrs. Christine Thompson Fremberg was born at Nest Lake may 5, 1860. The first boy born in the township was Oliver Thompson, a cousin of the deceased, who was born a year later. The Thompson family came from an estate called Grönäs in Järfsö parish, Hälsingland, Sweden in the summer of 1850, and lived the first nine years at Waupaca, Wisconsin. In 1859 they came to the Nest Lake area, what was then Monongalia county. The head of the family was John Thompson Sr., and his wife's name was Karin. They had three sons-Thomas, John, and Peter Jr. and one daughter Brita, who became Samuel Stoner. The year after the Nest Lake area John and his wife Ellen became parents to the daughter known as Christine. The daughter Carrie who became Mrs. P. O. Johnson, who was born at Waupaca is now deceased. In 1862 at the time of the Indian uprising the family had to flee for their lived to the eastern settlements. The grandparents and the uncle Peter Thompson, Jr., never! returned to this community. the latter became on of the leading citizens of Worthington. The John Thompson's came back and lived on Section 30. Later in life they moved to Section 16, near the village. Other children born in the family were Peter G. (now deceased) John O. of Lake Andrew and Mary (Mrs. Emil Johnson) of Minneapolis. The two survivors were present at the funeral. Christine was confirmed by the pioneer paster Rev. Andrew Jackson. and was confirmed into he Lutheran faith under the instruction of Re. Eric Hedeen. She attended the public school in District No. 9. On July 31, 1882, she was united in marriage with John Fremberg. They have made their home in Lake Andrew township. Seven children were born to them. One of whom, Philip, died in infancy. The others are Ella; Mrs Peter Lindal; Elmer, Josephine, Mrs Paul Nordin; Alice, Mrs. Geo Nelson; Louis and Edward - Three sons live at the old home and all live in the neighborhood except the Nelson's at Kerkhoven. The deceased Mrs. Fremberg has been failing of late with infirmities of old age and passed from this life February 23, at the age of 81 years, nine months and 18 days. Leaving her husband and the children to mourn her departure. With eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother in law; August Fremberg, the twin brother of her husband, his family and many other relatives Peace to her memory.

Thompson Life Runes of Unique Character of Northern Part of Kandiyohi County The funeral of Peter G. Thomposn of Lake Andrew, of whose death mention was made in a previous issue of the Daily Tribune, was held last Wednesday, June 7. Services were held at the Willmar Funeral Home at one O'clock and were conducted by Rev. Chester Dahlberg of New London. There was also a solo by Rev. Dahlberg and a duet sung by Mrs. Dahlberg and Mrs. Roy Johnson The inferment was made in the family lot at the Lebanon cemetery at New London, where Rev. Dahlberg also officiated and spoke briefly. Two duets were sung by Hazel and Sylvia Olander, the pallbearers were Harold Tustad, Otto Mankel, Otto Henschien, Vernie Henschien, Clarence Lindahl and Wallace Lindahl. Petter G. Thomposn halls from one of the very oldest pioneer families of Kandiyohi County, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Goran P. Thompson having settled in Nest Lake in 1860. During the Indian Outbreak of '62 the family left and made their Home for several years at Red Wing, where Peter was born on September 8. 1865. In 1875, when Peter was a boy of ten, the family returned to the New London community, where the deceased has lived ever since with the exception of the years 1904 and 1905 when he proved up a homestead at Black Duck, Minn., and 1909 and 1910 when he sojourned with his brother John at Bohman County, ND. Mr Thompson was an engineer and old time thresher man. For 3 years he was the engineer at the New London Mill. The beauty of Lake Andrew always had an attraction to Peter. About thirty years ago he acquired property on the North shore of the lake and in company with his brother-in-law, John Fremberg, built a hotel. This venture never proved a success however; and the building was torn down. In 1911 he acquired land on the west shore of the lake and started the summer colony known as Como Beach. Here together with his brother John, he built a saw mill and has engaged in sawing of lumber for about 23 years. Peter never married and after the death of his Mother, he had together with his brother John, the carefree life of a bachelor. He had the natural instincts of the pioneer, ever ready to try new ventures, always kind hearted and upright in his dealings. About six weeks ago his heart began to fail him and four days before his death he was taken to a hospital at Willmar where he died June 3rd at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 23 days. The deceased is mourned by one brother; John, two sisters; Mrs. John Fremberg of Lake Andrew and Mrs. Emil Johnson of Minneapolis, besides a large number of other relatives. We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the help and the many expressions of sympathy given us in our recent sorrow, the loss of our brother. Especially do we thank for the beautiful flowers and particularly Rev. Chester Dahlberg who officiated at the the funeral. Gratefully, Mrs. Christine Fremberg John O. Thompson Mrs. Mary Johnson
