APPELGET of Itasca, which shows this airman was born in 1918, as was the Hiram Appelget, son of T.C. and Helen. http://aad.archives.gov/aad/record-detail.jsp?dt=893&rid=1368475 A researcher on Ancestry.com has Hiram Forest Appelget in her posted family tree, and has the following: 5A1C1B5A1C Hiram Forest Appelget, born July 5, 1918; died in World War II in 1942. He was shot down while piloting a B-26 medium bomber, supposedly bombing the Ploesti oilfields in Romania. Prior to his wartime service he attended Itasca Junior College, followed by McAlester College in St. Paul MN. He also is supposed to have briefly attended Hamlin University, followed by Chillicothe Business College, where he met his wife.
