My grandmother's name was Mae Josephine Verbeke, born September 2, 1911. Her birth certificate lists her birthplace as Deer River, MN. Parents names are: Emil Verbeke, born in Belgium 4-27-1881 and Geraldine Mick (Micks?) born in Canada 10-14 (1888?) Her family spent part of the year in MN and part of the year in Canada as I've been told my Greatgrandfather worked in the Lumber Camps. She had several brothers and sisters -- Sylvia, Charles, Lorena, Daisy, Emil Jr. Dorothy (died as an infant), George (died as an infant), Martha, Walter Albert and Helen. The story goes that Emil Verbeke immigrated to Canada as a result of a fight in Belgium when he believed he had killed someone. He didn't learn until later that the man recovered completely. At that time, instead of returning to Belgium, he chose to stay breaking his mother's heart and causing his father to disown him. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Julie
