She was a "step-sister" to Minnie Cochran when he and Al got married. Minnie's step-mother , at that time, was my Great Aunt Mary Krugel. Mary's first husband was Frank Clark, and they had 3 children - Herman, Harry, and Hazel. ( Actually, Herman married a Hazel, too, so this could be the "sister-in-law" being referred to). Frank Clark died prior to 1910, and Mary Krugel Clark later married John Cochran, Minnie's father. I'm not sure when John and Mary were married, but all their kids all knew each other in Grand Rapids prior to that. Your ggGrandfather Al H Furley lived next to Mary Clark and near John Cochran for a number of years . Minnie and Al were also best friends of my grandparents, Joe and Lettie (Betts) Krugel. When Lettie died, in 1920, less than a year after giving birth to her fourth child, my Grandpa, who worked in "the woods", had to find someone to take care of his 4 children. All 4 went to different homes, my Dad going to live with Al & Minnie. He lived with them until about 1927, then all 4 kids moved back with their father in a "one room shanty" on McKinney Lake. Your other question was about Fostorias nickname, Fannie. I have found 2 nicknames for her. Early, she was called "Floss". Later , she went by "Fannie". Her true name, however, was Fostoria Becker. I have sent this, and other info with it, to your e-mail, but don't know if it was received. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
